What is the newest class of Princess ships?

The Sphere-class cruise ship is a class of cruise ships currently under construction that will enter service with Princess Cruises in February 2024. They will be the largest ships built for Princess Cruises and the company's first ships powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The newest and most advanced class of ships in the Princess Cruises fleet is the Sphere Class. The flagship of this class, the Sun Princess, debuted in early 2024, followed by its sister ship, the Star Princess, which launched in late 2025. These ships are the largest ever built for Princess and are powered by Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG), making them the line's most environmentally friendly vessels. The Sphere Class is defined by its revolutionary architectural features, most notably "The Dome," a glass-enclosed top-deck entertainment space inspired by the terraces of Santorini, and "The Sphere," a suspended glass Piazza that offers stunning panoramic ocean views. In 2026, these ships are headlining major itineraries in the Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Alaska, representing a significant "next-gen" leap for the brand.

If you like your cruise ships more intimate, you'll probably want to steer to the Grand Class or Coral Class vessels.

Princess appeals to an older demographic than lines such as Carnival and Norwegian. The average age of passengers is around 57, and you'll usually see a lot of couples on board in their 50s, 60s and 70s. As noted above, these aren't people necessarily craving go-kart tracks and ropes courses at sea.
