Wonderful hard packed sand, easy to walk on and has an excellent length to walk and walk without obstruction. 8 miles is a long way barefoot - not what I'm used to! The beach was gorgeous on this 78 F / 26 C afternoon.

I've been to St Pete Beach twice, both for a week at a time, and had no car and didn't need it. Unless you plan on going to the parks and big shopping malls, it's just a waste of money in my opinion. The shuttle service Super Shuttle is cheap, reliable, clean, and has friendly drivers.
