The most legendary record-breaking roller coaster at Kings Island is The Beast. Since its opening in 1979, it has held the Guinness World Record for the longest wooden roller coaster in the world, spanning a massive 7,361 feet (2,243 meters). The ride is unique because it was designed and built "in-house" by the park's own personnel and sprawls across 35 acres of wooded, hilly terrain, making much of the track invisible to the rest of the park. It features a ride time of over four minutes, two massive lift hills, and a signature 540-degree tunneled helix. Beyond The Beast, Kings Island is also home to Banshee, which set records as the world's longest inverted roller coaster upon its debut. More recently, Orion joined the lineup as one of only seven "Giga Coasters" in the world, featuring a 300-foot drop and speeds of up to 91 mph, continuing the park's tradition of pushing the boundaries of coaster engineering.
