What is the ride from Despicable Me?

Despicable Me Minion Mayhem - Universal Studios Hollywood.

The primary attraction based on the Despicable Me franchise is "Despicable Me Minion Mayhem," located at Universal Studios Florida, Universal Studios Hollywood, and Universal Studios Japan. In this motion-simulator adventure, guests are "recruited" by Gru to be turned into actual Minions. The experience begins in Gru’s living room and lab (the pre-show), where you are "scanned" for human germs and then enter the "Minionization Station." The ride itself uses high-definition 3D digital projection (though some locations have moved to 2D) and a sophisticated motion base to make you feel like you are plummeting, dodging giant flyswatters, and bouncing through Gru’s gadget-filled factory. It is a "heartfelt" thrill ride that concludes with an interactive "Minion Dance Party" near the exit. In 2026, at Universal Orlando, the experience has been expanded into an entire "Minion Land" on Illumination Ave, which also features the newer "Illumination’s Villain-Con Minion Blast," an interactive, standing-motion attraction where guests use "E-Liminator" blasters to compete in a villainous tournament.

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts is a 3D motion simulator ride that includes short roller coaster sequences. The carts mildly spin between screens, as well. *Spoiler alert: There is a small drop at the beginning, but you can't see how far down it goes, which could trigger motion sickness.

MORE DETAILS

Those that trigger the most motion sickness are unfortunately the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride (because of the pitching and rolling) and the Revenge of the Mummy ride (which involves moving forward and backward).
