What is the security like at Disneyland?

This includes the presence of uniformed police officers using specially trained dogs to help patrol our parks and resorts, and bag checks and security checkpoints at our theme park entrances, the Downtown Disney District, and our Resort hotels.

Our security screening process has been modified to reduce contact between Cast Members and Guests. To help expedite entry, Guests carry their own bags and personal belongings as they pass through the metal detector unit.

For the comfort of all Guests, the theme parks, the Esplanade between the parks and the Downtown Disney District are smoke free. The smoking of tobacco, e-cigarettes or other products that produce a vapor or smoke is allowed only in designated outdoor smoking areas.

The first time you use a ticket (or annual pass), your 5 point biometric finger scan is recorded. Each time you use the ticket after that, the scanner is looking for your finger scan to match the original one. This helps Disney to prevent the fraudulent use of park tickets.

The only place we know there AREN'T cameras in Disney World is in the restrooms since that's generally illegal. Other than that, anywhere in the parks is pretty much fair game. Besides the video surveillance, there are also a lot of plainclothes security guards throughout the parks.

The attacks of September 11, 2001 shook up security processes across the country, and Disney Parks weren't excluded. Among the changes was the implementation of a bag check system for guests entering the parks.

At the time of activation, a ticket will be associated with one Guest. Each ticket holder will have their photo taken at the park entrance. That photo will be used to verify each Guest when they use their ticket for re-entry on the same day as well as on subsequent days for a multi-day ticket.

If you're caught shoplifting at Disneyland, security personnel will detain you and take you to a private area. Once there, they will question you about the stolen merchandise. They will also confiscate any park tickets you possess and expel you from the premises.

Disneyland is filled with security cameras you do not see. Once a plainclothes security officer confronts you, you will be asked where you got the items from. They will ask for receipts and timing, and you will say you threw away the receipts.

With the exception of a couple attractions, every ride at Disney will have a small pouch for you to stow your backpack, or space at your feet.

Guests are allowed to bring outside food and nonalcoholic beverages into the parks for self-consumption, provided they are not in glass containers, do not require heating, reheating, processing or refrigeration and do not have pungent odors. Inform a Security Cast Member of any food items when you enter the park.
