What is United Premier 1K?

United MileagePlus Premier 1K members earn eleven miles per $1 spent on flights. As a United Premier 1K member, you'll be at the top of the food chain when it comes to seat upgrades. You'll get first crack at them — four days before departure — if any are available.

United Premier 1K is the highest publicly reachable elite status tier within United Airlines' MileagePlus loyalty program. Achieving this status requires a significant amount of travel and spending within a calendar year; for 2026, the requirements remain at 60 Premier Qualifying Flights (PQF) plus 22,000 Premier Qualifying Points (PQP), or a straight path of 28,000 PQP regardless of flight segments. Members at this level enjoy a vast array of high-value perks, including a dedicated 1K 1-800 support line, the highest priority for complimentary upgrades, and a large deposit of "PlusPoints" (typically 280 points) that can be used to skip the upgrade standby list for international Polaris business class. Other benefits include waived fees for checked bags, clear and lounge access discounts, and enhanced award seat availability. Starting in 2026, 1K members also gain the ability to earn additional PlusPoints through spending on eligible United Chase credit cards, further rewarding the airline's most frequent and loyal flyers.
