About Air MauritiusAir Mauritius currently operates a modern fleet of 9 aircraft comprising of 4 Airbus A350-900 XWB, 2 A330-300neo and 3 ATR 72-500 aircraft. Two more aircraft are planned to join the fleet in year 2023.
The 777-9 measures 251 ft 8 in (76.72 m) in length, compared with 242 ft 1 in (73.78 m) for the A350-1000. With its folding wingtips, its wingspan is much larger too – at 238 ft 10 in (72.80 m), it has more than 20 feet on the A350.
Emirates currently operates daily A380 flights to Mauritius. In line with rising demand, the airline will be scaling up operations from daily to nine weekly flights between 09 April 2022 and the end of June 2022 and then moving up to double daily flights from July 2022.
3 direct services weekly between London (Heathrow) and Mauritius on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and 3 direct flights returning from Mauritius to London (Heathrow) on Thursday evening, Saturday Morning and Saturday evening.
The Bottom Line: The Airbus A350-900 and Boeing 787-9 are very similar aircraft, suited for similar missions. As one would expect, the slightly larger A350-900 has a seat-mile cost advantage, while the 787-9 has an advantage in cost per block hour. These aircraft are competitive, and nearly tie in economic performance.
Range and flexibility.Surprisingly, for all its size, the A380 can't go as far as the A350. The A350-1000 can travel more than 1,000 km (540 NM) further than the A380. Singapore Airlines has a special 'ultra-long-range' (ULR) A350-900, which operates on the longest route in the world, from Singapore to New York JFK.
