What ride apps are used in Spain?

We asked Spanish consumers about Ride sharing/hailing / online taxi usage by brand and found that Uber takes the top spot, while Joinup is at the other end of the ranking.

In 2026, the dominant ride-hailing apps in Spain are Cabify, Uber, and Bolt. Cabify is the local favorite and often perceived as a more "premium" service, with highly professional drivers and a strong presence in cities like Madrid, Barcelona, and Valencia. Uber is also widely available and functions similarly to its global model. Bolt has gained significant ground by offering competitive, often lower, pricing. Additionally, for traditional taxis, the FreeNow app is essential; it allows you to hail a licensed city taxi through your phone, which is often faster in busy areas or during peak hours. Note that in some regions like Barcelona, strict regulations (like the 15-minute wait rule for VTCs) have historically affected app performance, so having a mix of apps—including PideTaxi for local cabs—is the best strategy for navigating Spain.
