At Universal Orlando Resort in 2026, high-intensity attractions require guests to store all loose articles in lockers for safety. At Universal Studios Florida, this includes Revenge of the Mummy, MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts. At Islands of Adventure, lockers are mandatory for The Incredible Hulk Coaster, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, and the Jurassic World VelociCoaster. For the most intense coasters (Hulk, VelociCoaster, and Stardust Racers at the new Epic Universe), guests must pass through metal detectors, and even small items like cell phones and keys must be stowed. Universal provides complimentary standard-sized lockers for the duration of your ride. Larger "family-sized" lockers are available for a small fee near the park entrances and at water attractions like Jurassic Park River Adventure and Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges to prevent your belongings from getting soaked.

Most of Universal Orlando's rides allow you to wear a fanny pack. The Incredible Hulk, Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit & Velocicoaster are the only attractions that require ALL items including cellphones be put into a locker.

Universal Orlando Resort is one of the top notch theme parks in keeping their guests safe by providing free locker rentals during rides that don't allow loose articles. In Universal's VelociCoaster, all guests are shuffled through the lockers right before the ride loading zone and asked to store items.

Get to Universal Studios Japan an hour before the gates open to beat the crowds. However, be prepared for a small queue, as Japanese students are known for being dedicated queue-goers! I have found that they are not quite big enough for a backpack. So, what I do is put the backpack on the floor of the ride vehicle and put my feet through the straps. This has always been perfectly sufficient for securing the pack for me and it is what I've seen many, many other people do.
