What rides to avoid for motion sickness at Universal?

Similar to The Simpsons Ride, the simulator elements of Race Through New York can definitely aggravate the stomachs of those prone to motion sickness. On top of that, the ride uses 3D glasses, which as we've previously established can also wreck havoc with “weak” stomachs.

Universal Orlando is the "King of Screen-Based Attractions," which is a nightmare for motion sickness. The biggest offenders to avoid in 2026 are The Simpsons Ride (a notoriously rough 4D simulator) and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey (which uses a robotic arm to tilt and spin you in front of massive screens). Despicable Me Minion Mayhem can also be problematic, though it offers "stationary seating" for those who want the experience without the motion. In the newer Epic Universe park (opened in 2025), Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge uses Augmented Reality which can be disorienting for some. If you struggle with spinning, avoid Storm Force Accelatron. To minimize nausea on other rides, try to sit in the middle of the vehicle and focus on the "fixed" horizon or the physical set pieces rather than the screens.

The experience includes a flight around Hogwarts castle, an encounter with the Whomping Willow and a horde of Dementors, and a Quidditch match. The ride drops, spins around, twists and turns, but does not turn upside down, though passengers sometimes lie flat on their backs.

Velocicoaster was a one per day ride for me unless the rides are spread apart. It got me fairly queasy when I rode it back to back but riding it once I was fine. It's a very smooth coaster but it's intense.
