In 2024, Royal Caribbean launched two of its most significant vessels to date: Icon of the Seas and Utopia of the Seas. Icon of the Seas, which debuted in January 2024, became the largest cruise ship in the world and the lead ship of the brand-new "Icon Class," introducing the revolutionary "Aquadome" and the "Thrill Island" waterpark. Later in the summer of 2024, Utopia of the Seas entered service as the sixth and final ship in the legendary "Oasis Class." Unlike its predecessors, Utopia was specifically designed for "The World's Biggest Weekend," focusing on short 3- and 4-night itineraries out of Port Canaveral to attract a younger, high-energy crowd. Both ships represent the pinnacle of 2024 maritime engineering, featuring massive capacity, LNG (liquefied natural gas) power for better sustainability, and a focus on "neighborhood" concepts that allow thousands of passengers to enjoy diverse experiences without feeling overcrowded.
