After a series of disagreements and negotiations, ride-sharing service Uber has been granted a new licence to operate in the UK capital by Transport for London (TfL).
Before driving into London you should check whether you'll need to pay the ULEZ charge using the TfL vehicle checker. You should also check if your destination falls within the expanded ULEZ using TfL's postcode and map search tool. This will also tell you if you have to pay the Congestion Charge.
I understand that officers get free travel on TfL services both on and off duty, using their individually assigned TfL Police Oyster cards, as well as the ATOC concessionary scheme that provides officers with unlimited travel on most national rail services within a 70 mile radius of London.
Children aged 11 to 15 years old can get free or discounted travel with a Zip Oyster photocard, or a Young Visitor discount. 16 and 17 year olds pay half the adult rate on Tube, DLR and London Overground journeys with a 16+ Zip Oyster photocard.
London buses are all cashless, so you need an Oyster card, Travelcard or contactless payment card to ride. Bus fare is £1.75, and a day of bus-only travel will cost a maximum of £5.25. You can transfer to other buses or trams for free an unlimited number of times within one hour of touching in for your first journey.
The 60+ Oystercard allows Londoners to travel for free on TfL services from 09:00 weekdays, as well as anytime on weekends and bank holidays. It also allows holders of the pass to travel for free after 9:30am on National Rail services within London on weekdays and anytime on weekends and bank holidays.
Children under the age of 11 travel free on London´s buses and trams, with or without an adult, at any time, and don't need a ticket. Children under the age of 11 also travel free on London Underground, DLR (Docklands Light Railway), overground and TFL rail without a ticket if they're accompanied by a paying adult.
The Central line is a London Underground line that runs through central London, from Epping, Essex, in the north-east to Ealing Broadway and West Ruislip in west London. Printed in red on the Tube map, the line serves 49 stations over 46 miles (74 km), making it the longest line on the Underground.
