The size of the cans you can bring on a plane depends entirely on whether they are in your carry-on luggage or your checked bags. According to TSA and international "3-1-1" security rules, any liquid, gel, or aerosol in your carry-on must be in a container of 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less. This means that a standard 12-ounce (355 ml) soda or beer can is strictly prohibited in your carry-on if it contains liquid, even if it is unopened. However, you can bring empty cans of any size through security. For checked luggage, there is much more flexibility; you can pack full-sized cans of soda, juice, or non-alcoholic beverages without a specific volume limit, provided they are within your airline's total weight allowance. If you are packing alcoholic beverages in cans, they must be under 70% alcohol (140 proof). For cans between 24% and 70% ABV, you are limited to 5 liters per person. It is highly recommended to wrap any pressurized cans in multiple layers of plastic bags or padding to prevent them from bursting and leaking due to pressure changes and rough baggage handling during the flight.
