PLAY, the Icelandic low-cost carrier, exclusively operates a "narrow-body" fleet consisting of the Airbus A320neo family. As of early 2026, their fleet is comprised of Airbus A320neo aircraft (seating 174–180 passengers) and the larger Airbus A321neo (seating 214 passengers). They do not operate wide-body "Jumbo" jets; instead, they utilize the "neo" (New Engine Option) technology's high fuel efficiency and extended range to fly long-haul routes between Europe and North America via their hub in Reykjavik. This "single-aisle" strategy allows them to keep maintenance and training costs low while still reaching destinations like New York, Baltimore, and Paris. For passengers, this means a 3-3 seating configuration regardless of whether the flight is a 3-hour hop to London or a 7-hour trek across the Atlantic, making the "narrow-body" experience the defining feature of the PLAY brand.
