Lake Como is more scenic than Lake Lugano, BUT.... If you'll have a car, why would you return to Como (town) only to travel north again for Switzerland?? However, for most itineraries, 2 days in Lake Como is a sufficient amount of time. You can also take a day trip to Lake Como from Milan, but I personally recommend staying in the region if possible. The lake is beautiful to see overnight.
Good to know: Because of its central location and great boat connections, Bellagio is one of the best places to stay for exploring Lake Como. In the high season, you can visit most of the nicest towns of Lake Como by taking a 10-30 minute ferry from here.
