What time is embarkation on Disney cruises?

HOW EARLY CAN I BOARD THE SHIP? For Bahamian and Caribbean cruises, check-in registration begins at 11:00 am and embarkation begins at 1:00 pm. All Guests must board the ship no later than 4:00 pm. Please plan your arrival accordingly to avoid the possibility of not being permitted to sail.

Embarkation for a Disney Cruise typically begins around 11:00 AM or 11:30 AM, but your specific entry time is determined by the "Port Arrival Time" (PAT) you selected during your online check-in. Disney is very strict about these windows to prevent overcrowding at the terminal. If you arrive earlier than your assigned PAT, you may be asked to wait outside or in your car. Once you are cleared to enter the terminal and complete security, you are assigned a "Boarding Group" number. Boarding usually starts with Concierge guests and Platinum Castaway Club members first, followed by the numbered groups. By 1:00 PM, most guests are on board and heading straight to the Cabanas buffet or the pool deck for lunch. It is important to know that while you can board early, your staterooms are usually not ready until 1:30 PM or 2:00 PM, so it is wise to keep a day bag with your swimsuits and medications while the crew delivers your larger checked luggage to your door later in the evening.

Staterooms are typically ready around 1:30 p.m. on the day of your voyage. Luggage may not arrive for a few hours afterward, so I recommend that you bring a swimsuit and coverup in a carry-on bag if you'd like to enjoy the pools onboard shortly after boarding.

The best time to board a cruise ship is obviously when there are few lines and short waits. The trick is knowing when that will be. Unfortunately, it can vary from port to port and ship to ship, but I prefer arriving in the early afternoon, usually around 1 or 2 p.m.
