What time should you get to California Adventure?

On most days, you'll be allowed to enter the park about 30 minutes prior to official park opening. Arrive an hour early so you're at the front of the line when guests start going in.

In 2026, the "Golden Rule" for Disney California Adventure is to arrive at the security checkpoint at least 60 to 90 minutes before the official park opening. If the park opens at 8:00 AM, you should aim to be at the gates by 7:15 AM. This practice is known as "Rope Dropping." Cast Members typically begin scanning guests into the park 30 minutes early, allowing you to walk toward the "ropes" at the entrance of each land. This is the only time of day when you can ride headliners like Radiator Springs Racers or Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure with a wait under 20 minutes without using a Lightning Lane. If you are staying at a Disneyland Resort Hotel, you have the added benefit of "Early Entry," which allows you into select areas 30 minutes before the general public. However, even with this perk, arriving early is essential because the parking structures (Mickey & Friends) can experience significant backups right at opening time, potentially costing you the best hour of your day.
