Fare zone 3 is an inner zone of Transport for London's zonal fare system used for calculating the price of tickets for travel on the London Underground, London Overground, Docklands Light Railway and, since 2007, on National Rail services.

Zone 1 is aerobic and uses a higher type 1 muscle fiber and fat ratio for energy. Z2 is aerobic, uses type 1 muscle fibers, and fat for energy. Z3 is both aerobic & anaerobic, uses both type 1 & type 2 muscle fibers, and fat & glucose for energy. This is the zone where lactic acid starts to build up as well.

If you look at the zone map below it should make sense. *zones 7,8 and 9 cover a small area just outside North West London including Watford, Croxley Green, Rickmansworth, Amersham or Chalfont & Latimer.
