What was Six Flags New Orleans called?

Six Flags New Orleans is an abandoned theme park located near the intersection of Interstate 10 and Interstate 510 in New Orleans. It first opened as Jazzland in 2000, and a leasing agreement was established with Six Flags in 2002 following the previous operator's bankruptcy proceedings.

Originally the 140 acres in New Orleans was home to Jazzland and opened in 2000. Six Flags made a deal to buy Jazzland out of U.S. Bankruptcy Court in 2002. Severe damage from Hurricane Katrina closed the park and it never reopened due to a pump failure after four to seven feet of floodwaters sat on park grounds.

Originally, the company was known as Six Flags, Corp., and later Six Flags, Inc. Founded in the 1960s, its name is derived from its first property, Six Flags Over Texas.

At the end of 1998 season, Six Flags announced that Adventure World would be branded with the Six Flags theme and renamed Six Flags America for the 1999 season. The park was officially renamed Six Flags America on October 28, 1998, and a large gala was thrown at the park to commemorate the change.
