Disney does an amazing job setting the mood for the ride with the mysterious queue and 1930s jazz music. However, the much-loved attraction is closing and will be replaced with Dr. Doofenshmirtz Drop-Inator. It's a sad day for many with the announcement that the Tower of Terror is closing permanently to be replaced.

Whether the Tower of Terror is being replaced depends on which Disney park you are visiting in 2026. At Disney California Adventure, the ride has already been replaced by Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT!, which opened in 2017 and features a high-energy "drop" sequence set to 80s pop music. At Walt Disney World’s Hollywood Studios in Florida, there are currently no plans to replace the Tower of Terror. It remains a cornerstone of Sunset Boulevard and is considered one of the most iconic and "untouchable" attractions in Disney history due to its incredible Twilight Zone theming. However, there are ongoing rumors about the "Tower of Terror" at Walt Disney Studios Park in Paris potentially receiving a re-theme in the future to align with the park's expansion into Marvel or Frozen lands, but as of now, it remains operational. In Tokyo DisneySea, the ride is called Hotel Hightower and has a completely unique storyline featuring the idol "Shiriki Utundu," so it functions as its own distinct brand that is unlikely to be replaced anytime soon.
