When can you go to your room on a Disney cruise?

Staterooms are typically ready around 1:30 p.m. on the day of your voyage. Luggage may not arrive for a few hours afterward, so I recommend that you bring a swimsuit and coverup in a carry-on bag if you'd like to enjoy the pools onboard shortly after boarding.

On a Disney Cruise Line (DCL) ship, staterooms are typically ready for guests at 1:30 PM. When you first board the ship (which can be as early as 11:15 AM depending on your port arrival time), you will be directed to the upper decks for a buffet lunch at Cabanas or Marceline Market. During this time, the stateroom hallways are blocked off by large fire doors to allow the "stateroom hosts" to deep-clean and sanitize the rooms from the previous sailing. At exactly 1:30 PM, an announcement is usually made over the ship's PA system informing guests that their "homes away from home" are now ready. It is important to note that your checked luggage, which you gave to the porters at the terminal, will not arrive at your door immediately; it is delivered throughout the afternoon and may not arrive until 5:00 PM or later. Because of this, you should always pack a "day bag" with your swimsuits, medications, and any essential documents so you can start enjoying the pools or the ship's activities as soon as you board, without needing to wait for your room or your heavy suitcases to be accessible.
