When did Atlantis leave Earth?

The city was built millions of years ago and abandoned 10,000 years ago by the Ancients. Five to ten million years ago, due to a plague in the Milky Way Galaxy, they were forced to flee to the Pegasus Galaxy, and there they seeded life on hundreds of worlds as they had done to Earth in the Milky Way.

Space Shuttle Atlantis (OV-104) left Earth for its final mission, STS-135, on July 8, 2011, at 11:29 AM EDT. This historic launch from Kennedy Space Center marked the beginning of the very last flight of the 30-year U.S. Space Shuttle Program. Atlantis carried a crew of four and the Raffaello Multi-Purpose Logistics Module to the International Space Station (ISS) to deliver a year's worth of vital supplies and spare parts. After a successful 13-day mission, Atlantis touched down at Kennedy Space Center on July 21, 2011, at 5:57 AM EDT, officially ending the shuttle era. Since its retirement, Atlantis has been on permanent display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. In 2026, it remains one of the most visited spacecraft in the world, displayed in a stunning "in-flight" orientation with its cargo bay doors open, allowing visitors to see the intricate details of the orbiter that completed 33 space missions and spent a total of 307 days in orbit over its 26-year career.
