When did Disney castle become pink?

We thought this bold castle color change was wonderful…but a lot of guests hated it! We went on a family trip to Disney World in November 1996 to see the “Pink Birthday Cake Castle” unveiled for Disney World's 25th anniversary celebration a few weeks earlier.
