When did the Yeti break?

The Expedition Everest attraction opened April 9, 2006, and the Yeti broke around 2008, and has operated in “B-mode” ever since. Disney has been unable to fix the highly-advanced, audio-animatronic without having to do major structural work to the man-made Asian mountain.

Unfortunately, Rohde retired from Walt Disney Imagineering in 2021, so he may never have the opportunity to fix the animatronic. Even if remaining Imagineers were to try to fix the Yeti, Expedition Everest would probably need to be closed for an extended period of time.

There no real evidence that it exists, but there have been reports of footprints in the snow which could have been made by a yeti. The yeti has been described as having white shaggy fur and a lean muscular body like an ape. This creature could also live in the Asian mountains near the Himalayan snow line.
