Where are snakes found in Corfu?

Corfu's only poisonous snake. Adults can reach lengths of 24 to 32 inches, it gets its name from a fleshy horn on its snout, coloration is light slate-brown body with a pronounced chain of darker lozenges down the length of its back. Usually found in rocky habitats and sea shores but dislikes sandy terrain.

There are a lot of snake species in Greece, but only one is poisonous: the adder. It is very rarely lethal, only in some cases where the victim gets into a severe allergic shock and is not treated properly.

One of the fiercest predators of Corfu is the Beech marten or Stone marten. In Greek it's called “kounavi” and while it's no bigger than a cat it can create a lot of damage. Martens tend to sneek into hencoops to hunt.
