Where are the best places to see planes at JFK?

Bayswater Park - Situated on the opposite side of Jamaica Bay to the airport, the waterfront backdrop makes for a unique perspective. From here, the best views are of aircraft arriving and departing on runways 04L, 04R, and 31L.

Views are usually better from the North side of the plane (because of the sun)... so that would be left side east bound and right side westbound. Unfortunately, the views into JFK are not as nice as the views into LGA. You are much more likely to enjoy a spectacular view of Manhattan when landing at LaGuardia.
