The flatter, wider beach provides the best conditions for shells to settle out as the tide falls. Because Tybee's beach sand moves around a lot, wide flat areas move around depending on surf conditions. Also, consider searching areas where the wave energy is lower such as near the north end or south end inlets.

This beach is huge, parking is $2.00 per hour 2 hour minimum. There can be sand fleas but I did not get a bite, one friend may have. The water was warm like a bath, clean and clear. Bath house could have had toilets washed, but otherwise it was basically a clean beach bathroom.
