The tigers at Disney's Animal Kingdom are located in the Asia section of the park, specifically within the Maharajah Jungle Trek. This self-guided walking trail takes you through the "Anandapur Royal Forest," where you can view Sumatran tigers prowling through ruins that are themed to look like an abandoned palace. The habitat is designed with waterfalls, pools for swimming (as tigers are excellent swimmers), and various "enrichment" items to keep them active. Sumatran tigers are the smallest subspecies of tigers and are critically endangered in the wild, so the exhibit serves both as a guest attraction and a platform for conservation education. The best time to see the tigers active is typically early in the morning or during cooler weather; in the heat of a Florida afternoon, they are often found napping in the shaded corners of the "palace" ruins.
