Where can I park and ride into London?

The most popular park and ride location is the Surrey Quays Shopping Centre Park and Ride, which is located in south-east London and offers easy access to the city centre via the Jubilee line on the London Underground.

Excellent question! Parking and riding (often called “Park & Ride” in the UK) is a very popular and cost-effective way to visit London, avoiding the congestion charge, expensive city centre parking, and traffic.

There are two main types of “Park and Ride” for London:

1. Official London Tube/Overground/TfL Rail Stations with Car Parks

These are stations on the outskirts of London with large, dedicated, and usually secure car parks operated by Transport for London (TfL) or private companies like APCOA. You pay for parking, then take the tube/train directly into the centre.

Key Areas & Stations (Grouped by Tube Line):

  • Metropolitan Line: (North-West) Excellent for access from the M1, M25, and the north.

    • Stanmore (Jubilee line terminus) – Very popular, fills up early.
    • Harrow-on-the-Hill – Large multi-storey.
    • Rickmansworth – Large car park.
    • Chesham & Amersham – At the end of the line, useful from the A413.
  • Central Line: (East & North-East)

    • Theydon Bois (Essex) – Near M25.
    • Epping (Terminus) – Very large car park, near M11/M25.
    • Hainault – (For the eastern branch).
  • Piccadilly Line: (West & North)

    • Cockfosters (Terminus) – Huge car park, excellent from M25.
    • Oakwood – Also good size
