If you're coming from an international flight, it is recommended to schedule your pick up an hour or 1.5 hours after landing to give enough time for getting through customs. It's also recommended to call your assigned driver once you've landed to inform them that you've arrived so they know to expect you soon.
If you wish to use the car park for less than 24 hours, please drive into the car park, take a ticket and pay at one of our pay-on-foot machines. If you are picking up please park in a designated pick up space. Parking is free for the first 30 minutes, with roll-up prices applying thereafter.
Arriving by taxi or private-hire vehicleAll taxis (black cabs) and private-hire vehicles must pay the £5 Terminal Drop-Off Charge each time they enter the terminal drop-off zones. Free drop-off options are available at Heathrow's Long Stay car park, where passengers can take a free bus transfer to the terminal.
But the good news is that in most cases there's no need to pay anything when saying goodbye to family and friends, as almost all airports have a free area for drop-offs – as long as you're willing to take a short walk or shuttle ride to the terminal.
To make things easy for you, we provide a recommended pickup time. Typically, we recommend 30-40 minutes if you have luggage, though if you have only a carry-on 20 minutes may be enough. If you're flying internationally, we recommend adding another 30-60 minutes for getting through customs.
Overall, Gottsman and Leighton agreed that airport pickups are a courtesy rather than an obligation. So appreciate any offers but don't drag your friend over the coals if they don't volunteer.
