Canoe & Kayak Launch Visitors may launch privately owned canoes and kayaks from the headsprings launch area; but should be prepared to port their vessel 1,800 feet from the parking area to the launch area, due to no vehicle access to the river within the park.

At Rainbow Springs State Park in Florida, there are two primary ways to launch a kayak, depending on your goal. If you want to paddle the headsprings, you must enter through the Headsprings Entrance (19158 S.W. 81st Place Road). Here, there is a designated launch area where you can rent equipment or bring your own. Note that if you bring your own vessel, you must carry it from the parking lot to the launch point, which can be a bit of a hike, so a kayak dolly is recommended. The second option is the KP Hole County Park, located just down the river. This is often the preferred spot for those who want to paddle "upstream" toward the springs first and then enjoy a leisurely float back down. Because Rainbow Springs is a protected aquatic preserve, you must ensure your vessel is clean, and disposable items like plastic water bottles or bags are strictly prohibited on the water to prevent littering in the crystal-clear springs.
