As already mentioned above, the ferry port in Hvar is located on the main promenade, right in the town centre, so obviously, everything you might need is very close: bars, restaurants, shop, post office, ATM-s, etc. The tickets can be bought in the ticket office on the main promenade.

The ferry drop-off in Hvar depends entirely on the type of vessel you are taking. High-speed catamarans (passenger only) drop you off directly in Hvar Town at the main pier (Riva), putting you right in the heart of the cafes, hotels, and the historic fortress. However, if you are taking a car ferry, it will drop you off at the Stari Grad port, which is about 20 kilometers (a 20-minute drive or bus ride) away from Hvar Town. There are also smaller ports in Jelsa (on the northern side) and Sućuraj (on the far eastern tip), the latter being the shortest crossing from the mainland at Drvenik. For 2026 travelers, it is a "best practice" to double-check your ticket destination; many people mistakenly book the car ferry to Stari Grad and are surprised to find they still need a bus or taxi to reach Hvar Town. If you are a foot passenger wanting maximum convenience, always choose the direct catamaran to "Hvar" (Hvar Town).
