Most ferries have designated luggage areas, where you can store your belongings. Alternatively, if you're traveling with a vehicle, you can leave your luggage in the car.

The upper decks of ferry boats can be very windy, while the constant running of air conditioning in the cabins below deck can sometimes make them even chillier than upper deck temperatures. To make sure that your trip is as enjoyable as possible, be sure to pack a sweater or light-weight jacket for the ferry ride.
How many bags can I bring on the ferry? Walk-on passengers are allowed up to 100 pounds of hand-carried baggage. Passengers are responsible for the handling and safety of their own bags. Baggage carts are driven from terminals and parked on the vessel car deck to offer assistance.
Backpack or SuitcaseIf you are going to an island after visiting Athens you might want a backpack as it will make walking to the ferry or your island hotel much easier since the sidewalks can be uneven on the islands as well as in Athens. I personally take a rolling suitcase on almost all longer trips.
To save time, consider flying. Compared with boats, flights are less likely to be delayed or canceled, tend to offer more frequent connections, and are much faster — but often more expensive.
Walk-on passengers and bicyclesYou will walk across a ramp to board the ferry. There is indoor and outdoor seating. You are free to move around. You will exit the ferry on the docked side following the directions of the ferry employee.
