The iconic "Harry Potter World Castle," which is officially known as Hogwarts Castle, is located within the "The Wizarding World of Harry Potter" themed lands at several Universal Destinations around the globe. The original and most famous version is at Universal Islands of Adventure in Orlando, Florida, situated in the Hogsmeade section of the park. This massive structure houses the flagship attraction, "Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey." A second, nearly identical version exists at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, which also features the Hogsmeade village and the Forbidden Journey ride. A third version can be found at Universal Studios Hollywood in California, perched on a hillside that provides a dramatic silhouette against the Los Angeles skyline. Most recently, a Hogwarts Castle was built at Universal Studios Beijing. It is important to note that while the "castle" you see in the theme parks is a highly detailed facade using forced perspective to appear larger than it is, the actual filming locations for the movies were various sites across the UK, including Alnwick Castle, Gloucester Cathedral, and Durham Cathedral. The theme park versions, however, are the only places where you can walk through the gates, see the Griffin Staircase, and visit Dumbledore's office in a fully immersive, 360-degree environment.
