Where is the warmest place on Lanzarote?

All of our villas are located in and around the resort of Playa Blanca and this is the warmest part of the island. Playa Blanca sits right at the southern tip of Lanzarote and even though the island is small, there's a marked difference in temperatures between north and south, especially during the winter months.

Costa Teguise has over 3000 hours of sunshine per year, so you're pretty much guaranteed great weather no matter when you visit. The skies are clear all summer and you shouldn't expect any rain until October, which has an average rainfall of 10mm.

Wear a sun hat to protect the top of your head, the back of your neck and your face from the sun. Limit the number of hours you spend in full sun, particularly between 11am and 3pm.

Lanzarote is, basically, hot all year round, with temperatures starting off the year around 20°C in Jan or Feb, rising beautifully to the high 20s in spring, and around 30°C in Jun-July. Although you get a soothing coastal breeze, it remains in the high 20s throughout the autumn, with the sea staying warm then too.

The summer months, when it's a popular time to go on holidays to Lanzarote, are July and August. But visiting Lanzarote during low season, between the months September and June, is maybe one of the best things you can do.

I got back early this morning from Costa Teguise and the short answer is, yes, it is a bit windy and as the previous reviewer has confirmed it is a wind-surfing resort.

Although the temperatures are fairly constant throughout the island, the north tends to get more wind, which may make it seem cooler. Costa Teguise is usually windier than Puerto del Carmen and Playa Blanca and out of the three, Playa Blanca may have the best weather in January and in winter in general.

Tenerife and Gran Canaria are the warmest islands in the Canaries during the months of December, January and February. Lanzarote and Fuerteventura usually have more cloudy days, which makes the weather seem cooler compared to Tenerife.

Puerto del Carmen has the busiest vibe and that incredible long Strip. Costa Teguise has a more laid back, surfy feel, and feels more Spanish, as well as being more compact. Playa Blanca is quieter than either and feels a little more upmarket, but it's very spread out.

The liveliest areas for nightlife in Lanzarote are the island's capital, Arrecife and the resort of Puerto del Carmen. Both Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise tend to be quieter although there are live music venues and bars in each resort as well.

Truth be told, the weather of Lanzarote and Fuerteventura is very similar, though Fuerteventura is slightly windier than nearby Lanzarote. Both islands are quite dry and have warm, mild climates all year 'round.
