With the Delta SkyMiles^® Reserve or Reserve Business and Delta SkyMiles® Platinum or Platinum Business American Express Cards, you'll receive a Companion Certificate each year just for renewing your Card.

To receive a Delta Companion Certificate in 2026, you must hold one of the premium co-branded American Express cards. Specifically, the Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card (and its Business version) provides a domestic Main Cabin companion certificate each year upon card renewal. For more flexibility, the Delta SkyMiles® Reserve American Express Card (and Reserve Business) offers a companion certificate valid for First Class, Delta Comfort+, or Main Cabin travel. As of early 2026, these certificates have been expanded to include travel to Hawaii, Alaska, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central America, in addition to the contiguous United States. It is important to note that the "Gold" and "Blue" versions of the Delta Amex cards do not offer this specific benefit. The certificate requires you to pay only the government-imposed taxes and fees (ranging from $22 to $250) for the second passenger, making it a highly valued perk for frequent travelers.
