Germanic influences are especially strong in Tangled, Snow White, Pinocchio and Cinderella. Tangled and Snow White both boast half-timbered houses popular in the state of Bavaria, while Snow White, Pinocchio and Cinderella were heavily influenced by German expressionist films.

Several Disney movies are based on German folklore and stories, most notably those adapted from the Brothers Grimm. "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" (1937) is the most iconic example, set in a fictionalized medieval Germany. "Tangled" (2010) is also based on the German fairy tale Rapunzel; the kingdom of Corona's architecture is heavily inspired by German and Polish styles, specifically the half-timbered houses of Bavaria. Additionally, "Sleeping Beauty" (1959) features a castle inspired by Neuschwanstein Castle in the Bavarian Alps. Other films with strong Germanic roots include "Cinderella" and segments of "Fantasia." While not explicitly set in Germany, the aesthetic of many Disney "storybook" kingdoms is rooted in the "Romantic Road" aesthetic of the German countryside, utilizing the steep gables and cobblestone streets typical of regions like the Black Forest or Rothenburg ob der Tauber.
