Which Harry Potter park should I do first?

Starting in either park guarantees you a great day — obviously, you're at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, you really can't go wrong — but we recommend starting at Hogsmeade, catching the train over to Diagon Alley mid-day, and then coming back to Hogsmeade to finish the night.



If you are visiting Universal Orlando Resort, most experts recommend starting your journey at Universal Studios Florida to experience Diagon Alley first. This mirrors Harry’s own chronological introduction to the wizarding world, as he visits Diagon Alley before heading to Hogwarts. After exploring the shops and riding Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts, you can take the Hogwarts Express (requires a Park-to-Park ticket) from King's Cross Station to Hogsmeade, located in Universal Islands of Adventure. Hogsmeade features the iconic Hogwarts Castle and higher-intensity rides like Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure. Starting in Diagon Alley provides a more immersive, "city-to-school" narrative flow. However, if your priority is riding Hagrid’s with a shorter wait, many veterans suggest "rope dropping" Islands of Adventure first thing in the morning, as that ride typically has the longest lines in either park.
