The Hubballi Junction railway station (SSS Hubballi) in Karnataka, India, holds the Guinness World Record for the longest railway platform in the world. As of 2026, this massive infrastructure project features a single continuous platform—Platform 8—that measures 1,507 meters (4,944 feet) in length. This is roughly 1.5 kilometers or nearly a mile long. The platform was designed to allow two full-length trains to be coupled or handled simultaneously on the same track, significantly increasing the station's efficiency as a major transit hub for South Western Railways. Before Hubballi took the title in 2023, the record was held by Gorakhpur Junction (1,366 meters), also in India. To put its size into perspective, walking from one end of the Hubballi platform to the other takes about 15 to 20 minutes at a brisk pace. It serves as a testament to the engineering scale of the Indian Railways network, which moves millions of passengers across the subcontinent daily.
