Disney's Animal Kingdom is by far the largest theme park at the Walt Disney World Resort, covering approximately 580 acres. To put that in perspective, it is nearly five times the size of the Magic Kingdom (approx. 107 acres). The vast majority of this acreage is dedicated to the expansive habitats for the park's 2,000+ animals, particularly the Kilimanjaro Safaris savanna, which alone is larger than the entire Magic Kingdom park. Because of its massive footprint, Animal Kingdom involves a significant amount of walking between lands like Pandora – The World of Avatar, Africa, and Asia. Despite its size, it has fewer "mechanical" rides than the other parks, focusing instead on immersive environments and wildlife conservation. Following Animal Kingdom in size are EPCOT (approx. 300 acres), Disney's Hollywood Studios (approx. 135 acres), and finally the Magic Kingdom. When planning your day, remember that the sheer scale of Animal Kingdom means it can take longer to traverse, so comfortable walking shoes are a non-negotiable requirement.
