Ultimately, if you want to gain access to British Airways lounges, you need to fly in business or first class with British Airways, or one of its partners, or hold British Airways Executive Club or Oneworld status.
Hot food and the salad bar is available between 12:00-15:00 & 18:00-22:30. Additionally there is a soup and bread from 12pm onwards. Breakfast is served 0500-1200, this includes fruit, yoghurt, pastries, toast and cereals. Bacon or omelette and cheese rolls are currently available from 0500-0930.

Generally, Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the best weekdays to fly. Thursday is a bit more expensive but still reasonable. Saturday is usually the cheapest weekend day to fly. That does not mean you cannot find great flight prices on the other days of the week.
