In London, the London Underground (“the Tube”) does not run 24 hours a day on any line in the traditional sense. However, there is a Night Tube service that operates on Friday and Saturday nights only on some lines.

For true 24-hour service (7 days a week), you need to look at other rail services.

Here’s a clear breakdown:

1. London Underground Night Tube (Friday & Saturday nights only)

These lines run approximately every 10-20 minutes throughout the night from around 00:30 to 05:30: Central line (between White City and Leytonstone, and between Ealing Broadway and Hainault via Newbury Park). Jubilee line (full line). Northern line (Charing Cross branch only, between Morden and Edgware/High Barnet, but not the Mill Hill East or Bank branches). Piccadilly line (between Cockfosters and Heathrow Terminals 2,3 & 5. Not to Terminal 4). Victoria line (full line).

Important: The Night Tube is not a 24-hour daily service. It is a weekend overnight service.


2. True 24-Hour Services (7 days a week)

These are your best bets for all-night travel any day of the week:

  • Elizabeth line (Core Section): Runs between Paddington and Abbey Wood approximately every 10-20 minutes through the night, seven days a week. This is the closest you get to a true 24-hour “

How Safe is the London Underground at Night? Generally, the London Underground is safe to travel at night.
