Which universal has the better Harry Potter world?

Both Orlando and Hollywood offer guests an engaging Wizarding World experience. However, Universal Orlando logistically has more to provide in the way of themed options for visitors to explore. Thus, travelers with time to spare wanting a comprehensive Harry Potter experience will find it at Universal Orlando.

Universal Orlando Resort is widely considered to have the superior Harry Potter experience because it spans across two separate theme parks connected by the Hogwarts Express. In Orlando, you can visit Hogsmeade (in Islands of Adventure) and Diagon Alley (in Universal Studios Florida). Diagon Alley is particularly praised for its incredible "hidden" entrance and the fire-breathing dragon atop Gringotts Bank, an immersive level of detail not found in Hollywood. Universal Studios Hollywood, while excellent, only features Hogsmeade. Orlando also offers more rides, including the high-tech Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, which is not available in California. Furthermore, with the opening of Epic Universe in May 2025, Orlando added a third Potter-themed land: The Ministry of Magic, featuring 1920s Paris from the Fantastic Beasts films. This makes Orlando the undisputed global capital for Harry Potter fans, providing a multi-day "Wizarding World" vacation that the single-land Hollywood park simply cannot match in scale or variety.

There are two rides in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood. The Flight of the Hippogriff is Universal Studios Hollywood's first outdoor roller coaster. It is family-friendly, short and appropriate for muggles 39 inches and up. Be sure to take notice of Hagrid's hut and Buckbeak in his nest.

That said, Wizarding World (like most of the rides at Universal Studios) is probably best suited for kids 7 & up. Kids who are already well-versed in all things Potter will have the best time since every nook and cranny is inspired by J.K. Rowling's sprawling imagination.
