On August 5, 1944, before the war was over, the Council of People's Commissars of USSR decreed that Kiev metro must be built. The construction of the metro in Kiev began in 1949. Many new technologies later dubbed as “Kiev's technologies” were used during the construction of the Kiev Metro.
