During the 2023 season at EPCOT, the character lineup was one of the most diverse in Disney history, largely due to the "Disney100" celebrations. At the front of the park (World Celebration), guests could meet Mickey and Minnie Mouse in their special platinum anniversary outfits, alongside the fan-favorite Figment, who made a triumphant return to the Imagination Pavilion. Moana also debuted her first permanent meet-and-greet location near the "Journey of Water" attraction. In the World Showcase, the pavilions hosted their "cultural ambassadors": Mulan in China, Snow White by the wishing well in Germany, and Belle in her blue village dress in France. The United Kingdom pavilion featured Alice in Wonderland and Mary Poppins, while Winnie the Pooh could often be found catching butterflies in the gardens. For fans of newer films, Asha from the movie Wish appeared at the World Showcase Plaza, and Anna and Elsa continued to welcome guests at the Royal Sommerhus in Norway. For a unique experience, the Garden Grill restaurant offered character dining with Chip ‘n’ Dale and Mickey in his farmer attire.

Ultimately, the answer to the question, “should you skip Epcot?” is ABSOLUTELY NOT as of 2023. Navigating the sea of construction walls isn't really as bad as it might seem–and while it'll be a lovely environment once finished, there aren't any rides you'll miss in that Giant Epcot Dirt Pit.

Walt Disney World Epcot – Best for Ages 8 to 14 It's a great theme park for intellectually curious kids (and adults) but not the best for little kids under the age of 8. Older kids will enjoy some of the major thrill rides (like Test Track and Mission: SPACE) and may really enjoy World Showcase.

As a general rule of thumb the best day of the week to visit EPCOT typically tends to be Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday. We would recommend visiting on a Wednesday during the festivals mentioned above.

Walk around the Disney Parks Plan what attractions you want to visit and look out for your favorite Disney characters along the way. If you're looking for rare characters this free-roaming strategy is your best bet. Rare characters never appear at scheduled meet-and-greets or character dining.

Off-peak times fall around January, February, September, and early November. Discounts on vacation packages booked directly through Disney (which combine park tickets and hotel stays) can be found year-round, though they're most common at these less-crowded times.

Of course, with so much to ride, eat, see, and do, you could spend at least one full day at Epcot, and some guests staying for a week opt to visit more than once, coming back another afternoon to take advantage of the restaurants and entertainment.

So when should you visit for the lowest crowds, generally? Go on a Wednesday! Fewer guests head to EPCOT mid-week and you can hopefully then walk up to the festival booths without having to wait in long lines. As a bonus tip — make sure to visit the festival booths early in the day.

The bottom line If you're into rides more than general theme park merriment and atmosphere, we suggest skipping Epcot, as it doesn't offer as many thrills. However, families, foodies and world's fair enthusiasts will likely enjoy their time at this concept park. Featured image courtesy of Walt Disney World.
