Design. The park was designed by the EDAW Consortium (including EDAW, Allies and Morrison and Buro Happold), working with Arup and WS Atkins. Detailed landscape architecture was by LDA Design in conjunction with Hargreaves Associates.

The park was dedicated by King George VI and his consort, Queen Elizabeth (the mother of Queen Elizabeth II) during their visit to Vancouver in 1939, as King and Queen of Canada.
In 1966 Hampshire County Council purchased Butser Hill with the aim of creating a new Country Park, Queen Elizabeth Country Park was formally opened by Her Majesty the Queen in 1976.

It's easy to spend the day at Queen Elizabeth Park, strolling the gardens, visiting the Conservatory, or just enjoying the views. A visit to the gardens and plaza alone will take about two-to-three hours; combine that with a game of golf or tennis and a picnic and you have a perfect outdoor day.
Queen Elizabeth Park is the highest point within the City of Vancouver proper. Its 52 hectares (~130 acres) of park land are covered with flowers, gardens and trees.
