Who famous is buried in Lincoln Cathedral?

In the choir is the tomb of Catherine Swynford (1350-1403), mistress, and later wife, of John of Gaunt and sister-in-law to Geoffrey Chaucer. Opposite Swynford's tomb is a memorial to Mary, Queen of Scots. Outside the Chapter House stands a statue to one of Lincolnshire's favourite sons, poet Alfred Tennyson.

When Eleanor died near Lincoln in 1290, aged 49, Edward needed a dramatic way to express his undying love. Her body was embalmed and her internal organs, except for her heart, were buried in Lincoln Cathedral before she was borne slowly to London, where her heart was interred at the Dominican church in Blackfriars.
