The "Atlantis" brand is currently divided between two different owners depending on the location. Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas is owned by Brookfield Asset Management and is part of Marriott International's "Autograph Collection." Brookfield took ownership in 2012 following a debt restructuring. Conversely, the iconic Atlantis, The Palm and the new Atlantis The Royal in Dubai are owned by Investment Corporation of Dubai (ICD), the principal investment arm of the Government of Dubai. Originally, both the Bahamas and Dubai properties were developed by Sol Kerzner’s company, Kerzner International, but the ownership structures diverged over the last decade. In Dubai, the hotels are managed by Kerzner International, which is itself majority-owned by ICD. So, if you are staying in the Bahamas, you are at a Brookfield/Marriott property; if you are in Dubai, you are at a property owned by the Dubai government. Both maintain the "lost city of Atlantis" theme, but they operate as separate financial entities under their respective owners.
