Who needs to fill out Apis?

For security reasons, the US, most EU member states, and other countries now require airlines to provide details about their passengers before they travel. This is known as Advance Passenger Information (API). Your airline will let you know what they need from you.

APIS (Advance Passenger Information System) must be completed by every traveler, regardless of nationality, who is flying on an international flight. This is a mandatory security requirement where airlines must collect passport data—including full name, date of birth, gender, and passport number—and transmit it to the border control agencies of the destination country prior to departure. In 2026, this rule covers all flights into, out of, and within major regions like the United States, Canada, the European Union (EES), and the UK. If you are a passenger, you usually provide this during the online booking process or at check-in. Failing to provide accurate APIS data will result in being denied a boarding pass or being stopped by the airline at the gate, as governments use this information to screen for security risks on the "Passenger List Manifest" before the aircraft even leaves the ground. For those on charter or business aviation flights, the responsibility still lies with the operator to ensure every individual on board is documented.
