Why am I not eligible to buy Emirates miles?

Miles can only be bought by Skywards members who have at least one prior earning activity in the history of the account. Mile purchases are non-refundable.

To be eligible to buy Emirates Skywards miles in 2026, your account must meet two specific criteria that often catch members off guard. First, your account must be at least 30 days old from the date of enrollment. Second, and most importantly, you must have at least one prior earning activity in your Skywards account. This means you must have already earned miles through a flight on Emirates or a partner airline, or through a transaction with a retail, hotel, or car rental partner. You cannot simply open an account and immediately buy miles to book a reward seat. This policy is designed to prevent "fraudulent" or "speculative" accounts from depleting award seat inventory. If you are getting an "ineligible" message, check your transaction history; if you have never earned a single mile through travel or a partner, you will need to do so (even a small hotel stay or car rental) before the system allows you to purchase more.
